چکیده

Background: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is an emerging public health crisis and biomarkers are playing a large role in AD research. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) holds advantages over existing for AD. This project aims to measure subfield thickness throughout the hippocampal long axis using HippUnfold, novel open-source automated segmentation software. Methods: High resolution (0.39×0.39×2mm) Hippocampal MR Images [control, n= 16, mild cognitive impairment (MCI, n =16), AD, (n = 16)] acquired by Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) were analyzed with software (HippUnfold) compute measurements. ADNI data such as Positron Emission Tomography (PET) biomarkers, Cerebrospinal Fluid scores Mini-Mental State Exam (MMSE), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), Scale (ADAS13), Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (RAVLT), correlated along linear regression models. Results: We found significant cluster correlations (p < 0.05) between MoCA scores, ADAS13 PET phosphorylated tau levels, beta-amyloid levels. Conclusions: Subfield atrophy associated severity (as measured testing) patients MCI

Hippocampal subfield volumetry in patients with subcortical vascular mild cognitive impairment.

Memory impairment is a typical characteristic of patients with subcortical vascular mild cognitive impairment (svMCI) or with amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI). The hippocampus, which plays an important role in the consolidation of information from short-term memory to long-term memory, is a heterogeneous structure that consists of several anatomically and functionally distinct subfield...

Hippocampal subfield volumetry in mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer's disease and semantic dementia☆

BACKGROUND Hippocampal atrophy is a well-known feature of Alzheimer's disease (AD), but sensitivity and specificity of hippocampal volumetry are limited. Neuropathological studies have shown that hippocampal subfields are differentially vulnerable to AD; hippocampal subfield volumetry may thus prove to be more accurate than global hippocampal volumetry to detect AD. METHODS CA1, subiculum and...

Impairment in Proverb Interpretation as an Executive Function Deficit in Patients with Amnestic Mild Cognitive Impairment and Early Alzheimers Disease

Background/Aims: Proverb interpretation is assumed to reflect executive functions. We hypothesized that proverb interpretation is impaired in patients with amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) diagnosed as single-domain impairment by common neuropsychological testing. Methods: We compared performance in a proverb interpretation test in single-domain aMCI patients and patients with early Al...

Macular Ganglion Cell -Inner Plexiform Layer Thickness Is Associated with Clinical Progression in Mild Cognitive Impairment and Alzheimers Disease

PURPOSE We investigated the association of the macular ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer (GCIPL) and peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thicknesses with disease progression in mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer's disease (AD). METHODS We recruited 42 patients with AD, 26 with MCI, and 66 normal elderly controls. The thicknesses of the RNFL and GCIPL were measured via ...
